Short answer: most A2P 10DLC rejections in GoHighLevel come from one thing: what you wrote in the registration doesn't match what the reviewer sees on your website. The opt-in form, the privacy policy, the sample messages and the business details all have to tell the same story. Fix the mismatch, then resubmit.
A2P reviews got noticeably stricter this year. I've fixed rejected registrations for home care agencies, coaches, clinics and real estate teams, and in one case got a blocked SMS launch approved within 48 hours. These are the problems I find almost every time.
1. Your opt-in form doesn't show SMS consent
The reviewer opens the URL you gave as your opt-in and looks for consent language next to the phone field. If it isn't there, the campaign is rejected.
Fix: add a separate, unchecked checkbox under the phone field with text like:
I agree to receive text messages from [Business Name] about [appointments / offers / updates]. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.
Don't make the checkbox required to submit the form, and link both policies.
2. Your privacy policy is missing the SMS clause
This is the single most common rejection I see. Carriers want to see that phone numbers aren't sold or shared.
Fix: add this to your privacy policy:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
3. Your Terms page has no SMS section
Fix: add an "SMS Terms" section that names the program, explains what messages people will get, says how often, and repeats "Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help" plus "Msg & data rates may apply".
4. Sample messages are too vague
Samples like "Hi, check out our offer!" get rejected.
Fix: every sample should: - include your business name - match the use case you selected - include opt-out wording in at least one sample ("Reply STOP to opt out") - use placeholders the way your real messages will, e.g. "Hi {first name}, this is Sarah from Bright Smile Dental. Your cleaning is confirmed for Tue at 3pm. Reply STOP to opt out."
5. The "message flow" doesn't say exactly how people opt in
The call-to-action or message-flow field should walk the reviewer through it step by step.
Fix: write it like this: "Customers opt in by filling out the form at [exact URL] and checking the SMS consent box. They can also text START to [number]. Consent is not a condition of purchase." Make sure that URL is live and shows the checkbox.
6. Business details don't match official records
The legal name, EIN and address must match your IRS records exactly, including "LLC" or "Inc.". The website domain should clearly belong to the same business.
Fix: copy the legal name exactly as it appears on the EIN letter (CP 575 or 147C) and use a business email on your own domain where possible.
7. The website isn't ready
A "coming soon" page, a site with placeholder text, or a site that doesn't describe the business you registered will be rejected.
Fix: make sure the site is live and shows what you do, contact details, the privacy policy and terms in the footer, and the opt-in form.
Before you resubmit: a quick checklist
- Opt-in form has an unchecked, optional SMS consent checkbox with the full wording
- Privacy policy has the "no mobile information will be shared" clause
- Terms page has an SMS section
- Each sample message includes the business name and matches the use case
- Message flow names the exact opt-in URL
- Legal name, EIN and address match IRS records
- Website is live and links both policies in the footer
In GoHighLevel, A2P registration is in the sub-account's Settings → Phone System (the Trust Center). Menu names change from time to time, so look for "Trust Center" or "A2P" if you don't see it.
Frequently asked questions
How long does A2P approval take after resubmitting?
It usually takes a few days, and sometimes up to two weeks if the campaign goes to manual review. With everything above fixed before resubmitting, I've had approvals come back within 48 hours.
Can I send SMS from GoHighLevel while A2P is pending?
US carriers heavily filter or block unregistered 10DLC traffic, so texts may not be delivered. Wait for approval before launching an SMS campaign.
Do I need A2P if I only send appointment reminders?
Yes. Any business texting US numbers from a standard 10-digit number needs A2P 10DLC registration, whatever the message type.
Should I register as a sole proprietor or with an EIN?
If you have an EIN, register the business with it. Sole proprietor registration has lower sending limits and is meant for people without a tax ID.
